About Us

Provo Girls Summit Art-0011.jpg

Neighborhood Art Center is a place where the community can gather to appreciate, experience, and create art.

Our Story

In March 2017, our founder Tallia Feltis identified a need for an accessible and creative community space. Tallia quickly started developing the Neighborhood Art Center (a 501c3 non-profit organization) concept, repurposed a former mall portrait studio, and opened doors later that summer.

Since then, we have welcomed thousands of children and their families to the Neighborhood Art Center studio and at offsite community events (including Art in the Park, Downtown Provo Art Stroll, and Tiny Art Show).

Our Mission

Make art accessible to the children and families of Utah County.

Our Values

  • To create a welcoming space where children are free to create and explore
  • Provide high quality, process based, arts education to children and adults in our community
  • Inspire a lifelong love of art, creativity, and learning

Our Team

Tallia Feltis
Founder

Tallia is the founder of Neighborhood Art Center. Her passion for kids’ art spaces really took flight when she and her two children started exploring children’s museums around the country. In Tallia’s travels, she frequently takes note of interesting new projects to incorporate into our studio at NAC. She believes that art education and experiences are an integral part of human development.

Elle Francis
Executive Director

Elle first discovered NAC when she took a drawing class here a few years ago and has been involved ever since. She is a big believer in the positive impact creativity and community can have in every stage of life and is dedicated to NAC's mission to make art accessible to everyone. As a Provo native and new mom, Elle is looking forward to helping NAC continue to thrive and make a difference in the community.

Abby Feltis
Studio Manager

Abby has worked at NAC since it opened in 2017. She is NAC's Studio Manager and wears many hats. Abby runs Open Studio, KinderARTen, and Drawing Club, writes the monthly emails, makes the graphics you see on our social media, and is the only person who knows where everything is located in the back rooms of NAC.

Jean Richardson
Education Coordinator

Jean is an artist and educator from Scotland who makes the curriculum and teaches all of NAC's art courses and camps. She received a BFA in Drawing and Painting and an MFA in Studio Arts. Jean has been teaching art for 15 years and makes her own art through collecting and assembling everyday objects like life jackets, envelopes, and wasp nests.

Board Members

Keera McClellan
Board Chair

Keera is a mother of four children, and loves being the house where kids like to congregate. She loves being involved in her neighborhood, and worked to help update the mural in Maeser Park — a park that is often overlooked. Keera has been on the board since the Neighborhood Art Center opened because she truly believes in its mission and what it means to our community.

Tamsin North
Board Member

Tamsin North is an art mom. Whether volunteering to teach art lessons at her kid’s school, dragging her family to art museums or taking art classes herself, art is a huge part of her life. Because she knows that access to art education and experiences is absolutely integral to human development, Tamsin will climb onto her soap box and tell anyone who will listen all about why we need the arts. Being part of the NAC's Board of Directors has been an excellent opportunity to do that and she looks forward to continuing to help NAC grow.

Lindsay Taylor
Board Member

Lindsay is a mother of three and a longtime supporter of the Neighborhood Art Center. She loves how NAC creates space for creativity and connection in the community and is excited to help support that mission as a board member. Lindsay studied Art History at UVU and has traveled to museums and cultural sites around the world, always finding inspiration in the ways art brings people together.

Julia Connor
Board Member

Julia Connor is an artist, art teacher, and owner of Artful Nest Studio, a home-based art school in downtown Provo where she lives with her husband and their pet goldfish. She teaches children and teens the foundations of drawing, painting, and creative thinking, emphasizing process and self-expression. When she’s not teaching, Julia enjoys gardening, painting, and finding inspiration in the beauty of everyday life.

Ren Wightman
Board Member

Ren Wightman and his wife are the proud parents of three wonderful chidlren, whom he credits as the true creatives in the family. While he may not claim artistic talent himself, Ren has a deep appreciation for those who do and is naturally drawn to people who create, inspire, and bring beauty into the world. Ren is honored to serve on NAC's board and is passionate about its mission to make art accessible to everyone. He believes that creativity should not be limited by background or circumstance, and that communities are stronger when individuals are given the opportunity to express themselves through art.
